ಅನಂತ
ಅನಂತ (Infinity) (symbol: ∞)ಎಂದರೆ ಅಂತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲದ್ದು.ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಸಹಸ್ರ ನಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲೊಂದು.ದೇವರು ಆದಿ,ಅಂತ್ಯಗಳಿಲ್ಲದವನಾದುದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅನಾದಿ,ಅನಂತ ಮುಂತಾದ ಹೆಸರುಗಳಿವೆ. ಗಣಿತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಂತ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು '' ಎಂಬ ಚಿನ್ಹೆಯಡಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಅನಂತ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುವ ಪದವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅನಂತ ಎಂದರೆ ಕೊನೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದು, ಮಿತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದು, ಅಗಣಿತವಾದದ್ದು. ಈ ಭಾವನೆಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವ ಕಾಣುವ ಅಗಾಧವಾದ ವೈಚಿತ್ರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಶಾಲ್ಯ ಕಾರಣ. ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು, ಸಸ್ಯಗಳು, ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳು ಅಗಣಿತ. ಅದರ ಮೇಲಿನ ಆಕಾಶ ಮಿತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಷ್ಟು ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾದದ್ದು. ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಾರೆಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಅಮಿತ. ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಎಣೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊನೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನಾವು ದಿಗಂತದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಹೋದರೂ ಆ ದಿಗಂತ ಅಷ್ಟು ಅಷ್ಟು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಭೂತಕಾಲವೂ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಕಾಲವೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ. ಎಷ್ಟು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರೂ ಅದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕಾಲವಿದ್ದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾವು ಎಷ್ಟೆಷ್ಟು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುನ್ನಡೆದರೂ ಅದರ ಮುಂದೆ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವಿದ್ದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಅಪರಿಮಿತಭಾವನೆ ಕಾಲದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಗೆಯ ಗುಣಗಳಿಗೂ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾವು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುವ ಬಣ್ಣಗಳು ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆಯೆ? ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಗಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲೂ ಅಪರಿಮಿತ ಭೇದಗಳಿವೆ. ಒಂದು ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಸಣ್ಣ ಅಣುವಾಗಿ ಒಡೆದರೂ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಅಲ್ಪವಾದದ್ದು ಇದ್ದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಎಷ್ಟೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೂ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡದು ಸಂಭಾವ್ಯ. ಈ ಅನಂತತೆಯನ್ನು ವಸ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲದೆ ಮಾನವನ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಮಾನವನ ಕಾವ್ಯಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೇ ಮುಗಿಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದೇ? ಇದು ಕಾವ್ಯಕ್ಕಲ್ಲದೆ, ಗೀತ, ನೃತ್ಯ, ಚಿತ್ರ, ಶಿಲ್ಪ ಮುಂತಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಲೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಾನವನಿಗೆ ಸಹಜವಾದ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ, ಅದ್ಭುತಭಾವ ಈ ಅನಂತಭಾವನೆಯ ಚಿಲುಮೆ; ಅದರ ಚಿಮ್ಮುಹೊಮ್ಮುಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೊನೆಯಿಲ್ಲ.
