Usage

This template formats IPA transcriptions and links them to WP:IPA for Portuguese. The transcription should match the conventions of that key; for narrower dialect transcriptions, use {{IPA-all}}, which links to a more complete IPA key.

The first cell in the template is for the transcription, and a second optional cell is a switch that controls the lede. With no second value, the lede Portuguese pronunciation: appears:

• {{IPA-pt|bo}} → Portuguese pronunciation: [bo]
• {{IPA-pt|bo|pron}} → pronounced: [bo]
• {{IPA-pt|bo|lang}} → Portuguese: [bo]
• {{IPA-pt|bo|eu}} → European Portuguese: [bo]
• {{IPA-pt|bo|br}} → Brazilian Portuguese: [bo]
• {{IPA-pt|bo|local}} → locally: [bo]
• {{IPA-pt|bo|IPA}} → IPA: [bo]
• {{IPA-pt|bo|}} → [bo]

Any of these may be combined with a sound file in an optional third cell:

• {{IPA-pt|bo|IPA|Pt-br-bo.ogg}} → IPA: [bo] (

For the default lede, however, a placeholder such as ‹-› is required in the second cell:

• {{IPA-pt|bo|-|Pt-br-bo.ogg}} → Portuguese pronunciation: [bo] (
