ಕಲ್ಲುಗೌಜಲು ಹಕ್ಕಿಕೊಲಂಬಿಫಾರ್ಮಿಸ್ ಉಪಗಣದ ಟೀರೊಕ್ಲಿಡೀ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರಭೇದಗಳ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳಿಗಿರುವ to ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಹೆಸರು (ಸ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಗ್ರೌಸ್). ಕೆಲವು ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಗೌಜಲು ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳನ್ನು (ಗ್ರೌಸ್) ಹೋಲುವುದರಿಂದಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಲೂ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಹೆಸರು. ಆದರೆ ವಾಸ್ತವವಾಗಿ ಇದು ಪಾರಿವಾಳದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಸಂಬಂಧಿ.

ಪ್ರಬೇಧಗಳು[ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ]

ಗೋಭಿ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ಹಕ್ಕಿ

ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೬ ಪ್ರಭೇದಗಳಿವೆ. ಇವು ಆಫ್ರಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಡಗಾಸ್ಕರ್, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಯುರೋಪ್, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯ ಏಷ್ಯದ ಮರಳುಗಾಡುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದವು ಮಧ್ಯ ಏಷ್ಯದ ನಿವಾಸಿಯಾದ ಸಿರಾಪ್ಟಿಸ್ ಪ್ಯಾರಡಾಕ್ಸಸ್; ಸ್ಪೇನ್, ಉತ್ತರ ಆಫ್ರಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಏಷ್ಯ ಮೈನರ್ಗಳ ನಿವಾಸಿಯಾದ ಟೀರೋಕ್ಲಿಸ್ ಆಲ್ಚಾಟ; ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬರುವ ಟೀರೋಕ್ಲಿಸ್ ಎಕ್ಸಸ್ಟ್‌ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಟೀರೋಕ್ಲಿಸ್ ಇಂಡಿಕಸ್ ಎಂಬವು.

ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳು[ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ]

ಸಾಧಾರಣವಾಗಿ ೯"_೧೬" ಉದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪುಷ್ಟವಾದ ದೇಹವಿದೆ. ದೇಹದ ಬಣ್ಣ ಬೂದು ಅಥವಾ ಕಂದು. ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿತ್ತಳೆ, ಕೆಂಗಂದು, ಕಪ್ಪು ಅಥವಾ ಬಿಳಿಯ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಮಚ್ಚೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಬಣ್ಣ ಪರಿಸರದ ಬಣ್ಣದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಿಳಿತವಾಗಿ ಹಕ್ಕಿಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪಾರಿವಾಳಕ್ಕಿರುವಂಥ ಕತ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ತಲೆ, ಮೋಟಾದ ಕಾಲುಗಳು, ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದ ಚೂಪಾದ ಕೊಕ್ಕು, ಉದ್ದನೆಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಚೂಪಾದ ರೆಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಲ_ಇವು ಕಲ್ಲುಗೌಜಲು ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳು. ಈ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಗುಂಪುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರುತ್ತವೆ. ಹಾರುವುದು ಕಡಿಮೆ, ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕುತ್ತ ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಮಾನವ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಸುಳಿವು ತಿಳಿದೊಡನೆಯೇ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಹಾರಿಹೋಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಇವು ಬಹಳ ಪುಕ್ಕಲು ಸ್ವಭಾವದ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಹು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಗಿವೆ. ಸಣ್ಣ ಕಾಯಿಗಳು, ಕಾಳುಗಳು, ಮೊಗ್ಗುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಣ್ಣಪುಟ್ಟ ಕೀಟಗಳು ಇವುಗಳ ಆಹಾರ.

ವಾಸ[ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ]

ಕಲ್ಲುಗೌಜಲು ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಬಂಜರುಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದರೂ ದಿನಕ್ಕೆರಡು ಬಾರಿ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಯಲು ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಯಾವುದಾದರೂ ಕೊಳ, ತೊರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿಕೊಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಈ ಭೇಟಿಯ ಉಪಯೋಗವನ್ನು ಬೇಟೆಗಾರರು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ಬಲು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಮತಿಗಳು. ನೀರಿಗೆ ಬಾಯಿಕ್ಕುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಇವು ಕೊಳದಿಂದ ನೂರಾರು ಗಜಗಳ ದೂರದಲ್ಲೇ ಇಳಿದು ೫_೧೦ ಮಿನಿಟು ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿದ್ದಾರೋ ಏನೋ ಎಂದು ಕಾಯುತ್ತವೆ. ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಮನವರಿಕೆಯಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಯಲು ಧಾವಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎದೆಯಾಳದ ವರೆಗೂ ಇಳಿದು ನೀರನ್ನು ಹೀರಿ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತವೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಗೂಡಿಗೆ ವಾಪಸಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಒದ್ದೆಯಾದ ಎದೆಯನ್ನು ಮರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಚೀಪಲು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅವಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರುಣಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಈ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಗೂಡುಕಟ್ಟಿ ೨-೪ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನಿಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಗಂಡು ಹೆಣ್ಣುಗಳೆರಡೂ ಸರದಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾವು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಮರಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಮರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಎರಡೂ ಗುಟುಕು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಲಹುತ್ತವೆ.

ಕೆಲವು ಬಗೆಯ ಕಲ್ಲುಗೌಜಲು ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಲಸೆಹೋಗುವ ಕ್ರಮವೂ ಇದೆ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಮಧ್ಯ ಏಷ್ಯದ ನಿವಾಸಿಯಾದ ಸಿರಾಪ್ಟಿಸ್ ಪ್ಯಾರಡಾಕ್ಸಸ್ ಎಂಬ ಹಕ್ಕಿ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಯುರೋಪಿಗೆ ಚಳಿಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ವಲಸೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಗೆಯ ಕಲ್ಲು ಗೌಜಲುಗಳೂ ಮೃಗಯಾಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳೆಂದು (ಗೇಮ್ ಬಡ್ರ್ಸ್‌) ಹೆಸರಾಗಿವೆ.
