ಇದರ ಉದ್ದ ಸುಮಾರು ೨೫ ಸೆಂ.ಮೀ. ವಸಂತಋತುವಿನ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪಕ್ಷಿ ವಲಸೆಹೋದ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಮರಳಿಬಂದು ತನ್ನ ಮಧುರ ಇಂಚರದಿಂದ ಮುದಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಈ ಪಕ್ಷಿ ಹಾನಿಕಾರಕ ಕೀಟಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶಗೊಳಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಇದೊಂದು ಉಪಯುಕ್ತ ಪಕ್ಷಿಯೆನಿಸಿದೆ. ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಹಸುರುಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ನೀಲವರ್ಣದ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನಿಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಾಧಾರಣವಾಗಿ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಎರಡು ತಂಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಉತ್ತರ ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಈಶಾನ್ಯ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪ್ರಭೇದದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ರೂಪಗಳು ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತವೆ.
