ಪೊಥೋಸ್ ಸ್ಕ್ಯಾಂಡೆನ್ಸ್ [೧] ಅರೇಸಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಷ್ಣವಲಯದ ಹಬ್ಬುವ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಸಸ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. [೨] [೩] ಇದು ಪೊಥೋಸ್ ಕುಲದ ವಿಧದ ಜಾತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ . ಕ್ಯಾಟಲಾಗ್ ಆಫ್ ಲೈಫ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಉಪಜಾತಿಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. [೨]

ತುಳು ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಕೆಬೂರು, ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡ್ಕೆ ಬೀಳುಬಳ್ಳಿ,ಅಗಚೊಪ್ಪು ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಇದೆ.ಮಲೆಯಾಳಂ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಪ್ಪರುವ,ಮರಾಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಡಾರ್ಲಿ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿದೆ.
