Opera on Linux doesn't render or properly. Below are the screenshots of Kannada Wikipedia and Hindi Wikipedia that show incorrect rendering on Opera-Linux.

Compound characters get displayed with glyphs detached or misaligned.

Bug report has been filed with Opera - bug-207204.

Note:

  • Opera Windows and Mozilla on Windows render them fine.
  • The default Mozilla package from mozilla.org (which uses xft) doesn't render Indic properly - only pango enabled build renders Indic fine. Most distributions now supply pango enabled build, which just need MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO env. variable set to 1 to run with Pango support.
