Akash Shivashankar (born November 20, 1997) is an Indian pickleball player. He is in top 15 in India for doubles, mixed doubles, and singles by the Pickleball Global Ranking(PGR) .

Personal life

Akash was raised in Channapatna,Karnataka. He was completed his schooling in channapatna as a child and completed Bachelors & Masters degree in commerce at the Bangalore university , Seshadripuram academy of business studies & Government first grade college,vijayanagara respectively. He is the only child after his elder sister,

Pickleball career

Akash played Badminton since he was a child, showing some proficiency in sports. One day accidentally He discovered pickleball in Bangalore through his former coach Rudraradhya when the first pickleball game demo session was going on. He first played pickleball in 2017 at the age of 19 while he was in the middle of fitness run in kengeri,bangalore. and took limelight in the first ever demo session in the state. Just a few months later. He played in the National tournament and lost in quarters against Saadi Qamar of Rajasthan. then he played so may tournaments but, got nothing. He earned his first Bronze medal at the Asia Flex league  a little less than a year later. That same year, he played the Indian Masters Open and Lost in pre-quarter in Men’s open Singles. Shortly thereafter,he won Bronze medal at the Karnataka state championship, bringing him to the hope to continue the sport. He never won any finals in his career. Reaching quarters in RYP ranking tournament in mens doubles is his only achievement, He continue to play after so many loses only because of his passion towards pickleball and hunger towards the title.this is one of the sport’s most difficult feats.  Akash has partnered with Dayana sequiera lobo in mixed doubles.

In 2018, he was sponsored by Gamma pickleball  which lasted for 2 years.
